Perched on the rolling hills of Nyamasheke, Rwanda, this coffee comes from the Cyesha Coffee Washing Station, operated by Muraho Trading Company. Founded by brothers Karthick and Gaudam Anbalagan, Muraho was created with a simple mission: to share the extraordinary quality of Rwandan specialty coffee with the world while creating lasting partnerships with the farmers who grow it.
Cyesha, Muraho's newest washing station, sits at elevations reaching 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) in the fertile volcanic soils overlooking the shores of Lake Kivu. The combination of rich volcanic earth, cool mountain temperatures, and steady breezes flowing off one of Africa's Great Lakes creates an ideal environment for producing coffees with remarkable sweetness, clarity, and complexity.
Quality begins long before the coffee reaches your cup. Farmers deliver only perfectly ripe cherries, which are carefully sorted before undergoing a meticulous washed process. Every step—from floating and fermentation to washing, soaking, and hand-sorting during drying—is designed to preserve the coffee's unique character and showcase the vibrant flavors Rwanda has become famous for.
The result is a beautifully clean and expressive coffee that reflects both the incredible growing conditions of western Rwanda and the dedication of the farmers and producers who work tirelessly to bring out its very best.
